Mumbai, Aug 07: Nationalist Congress Party, whose
ministers have been accused of graft by Anna Hazare, today
appealed to the noted social worker to reconsider his decision
of resorting to fast unto death from August 09, here.
"We sincerely appeal Anna to reconsider his decision of
resorting to fast unto death. He, however, can take up token
hunger strike to highlight various issues raised by him", NCP
state unit spokesman Vasant Chavan told reporters.
Hazare had accused Maharashtra ministers, Sureshdada Jain, Dr Padamsinh Patil, Dr Vijaykumar Gavit and Nawab Malik all belonging to NCP of indulging in corrupt practices.
Jain, who indulged in a verbal spat with the noted social worker, had countercharged Hazare of malpractices and threatened to simultaneously resort to a hunger strike along with the latter.
Chavan said even the party president Sharad Pawar and NCP's state unit chief R R Patil were not averse to hold talks with Hazare to resolve the issues raised by the social worker.
