Islamabad, Feb 16: Founder of Pakistan's nuclear programme Abdul Qadeer Khan, involved in selling nulcear technology to other countries, has reportedly suffered a heart attack. "Khan is under treatment at his residence and his condition is stated to be critical. He often felt pain in his left hand whenever he took extra burden and pressure of official work," the daily Dawn quoting sources at the Khan Research Laboraties (KRL) said.

"In view of his poor cardiac condition, a heart specialist along with a cardiac machine was secretly sent to his residence from the KRL Hospital last Sunday," the sources at the countries preimer nuclear installation said.

They said Dr Khan had been suffering from pain in his left hand since being questioned by intelligence agency for his involvement in selling nuclear technology. Dr Khan, they said, had never suffered from cardiac complaint before this incident.

"Dr Khan was holding his left hand when he was shown the last time on television after his meeting with President Musharraf," the sources added. On February 04, Dr Khan took the "sole responsibility" for sale of nuclear arms technology to Iran, Libya and North Korea, ending a two-month government investigation into the scandal. Bureau Report
