Hyderabad, Aug 03: The BJP floor leader in Andhra Pradesh Assembly N Indrasena Reddy is all set to take over as the party's state unit president today with his election to the post becoming a mere formality following consensus over his candidature. Reddy, a three-time legislator representing Malakpet constituency in the city, filed his nomination papers yesterday. His name was proposed by 143 party leaders including union ministers B Dattatreya, Ch Vidyasagar Rao, presidents of 13 district party units and all office-bearers.
His election would be formally announced after a meeting of the party's state executive committee here today. The meeting would be addressed by party president M Venkaiah Naidu.

53-year old Reddy, a post-graduate in Chemistry, was first elected to the Assembly from Malakpet in 1983, defeating former home minister K Prabhakar Reddy. He won the seat in 1985 and 1999 polls.
Born into an agriculturist's family at Ganugabanda village in Nalgonda district in 1950, Reddy was an active leader of ABVP and was jailed during emergency.



He was made general secretary of state Janata Yuva Morcha in 1977. When BJP was formed in 1980, Reddy was chosen as state president of BJYM and later as all India general secretary of BJYM.
