Sambalpur (Orissa), July 18: Eleven students of the VSS Medical college at Burla, about 20 kms from here, were injured when the security guards of the private sector power distribution company, Wesco fired at them tonight.
According to police sources, enraged over frequent disruption in power supply a number of medical students had gone to the Wesco's head office and confronted the staff there. There was heated argument between the medicos and the Wesco staff and the former allegedly resorted to brickbatting. The security guards of power distribution company retaliated by resorting to firing.
The injured medicos had been admitted to the hospital, sources said adding the condition of one of them was serious.
Senior officers including the collector and superintendent of police had rushed to the spot.
