Ayodhya, Aug 07: Curtains came down today on the nearly five-month excavation carried out by Archaeological Survey of India in the acquired land in Ayodhya to help ascertain if a temple had existed beneath the mosque. The digging, carried out by a team of ASI experts following Allahabd High Court's directive, lasted for about 160 days throwing up 1350 big and small articles, reliable sources said. The ASI team is busy in examining the articles discovered during the excavation, the sources said adding no article was found on the final day of digging. The sources said a few excavated articles were sent to laboratories in Lucknow and Dehara Dun for carbon dating analysis and the repot was awaited by the ASI team which undertook the excavation. The excavation report will be submitted to the court on August 22 next, according to sources.

The excavation was done on the patterns of Ground Penetrating Radar (GPR) System carried out in acquired land by the Japanese firm Tojo Vikas International.
