Islamabad, Sept 05: Pakistan and China decided today to intensify cooperation in combating terrorism, extremism and other trans-national crimes, officials said. The agreement was reached at a meeting between Interior Minister Faisal Saleh Hayat and a Chinese delegation, headed by Yang Huanning, vice minister of the ministry of public security of China, an official statement said.

They agreed to establish a joint working group of the two ministries "for closer collaboration in combating terrorism, extremism and other trans-national crimes," it said.

The statement said the two sides lauded the existing cooperation between the two countries in the fight against terrorism and extremism.
The decision to further develop the "friendly cooperative relationship" followed a memorandum of understanding signed by the two sides in March 2001, it said.
