Mumbai, Nov 08: Police have seized five guns, some of them believed to be unlicenced, from the residence of Joint Commissioner of Police (Intelligence) Sridhar Vagal arrested in connection with fake stamp paper racket here, SIT sources said today. The firearms were seized from Vagal's Agasti Apartments residence in Bandra during raids conducted by the Special Investigation Teams and the anti-corruption bureau last night following his arrest, the sources said.

Among the seized weapons was a police service revolver but the SIT has not been able to trace who issued it to Vagal, they said. The Mumbai Police has denied that the weapon was issued Vagal, the SIT sources added.

The other four weapons were foreign-made and the SIT suspects that some of them may be unlicenced.

The SIT is baffled at the number of weapons Vagal possessed and is likely to interrogate him on the issue. Bureau Report
