New Delhi, May 07: Government has tightened security at some of the monuments including India gate in view of heightened terrorist threat, the Rajya Sabha was informed today. "After reports of terrorist threat to some of the monuments including India Gate, adequate security has been provided there," Minister of State for Home Affairs I D Swami said in a written reply.
His colleague, Minister of State for Home Affairs Harin Pathak, to another question, said Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) has been assigned the duties of security of the Indira Gandhi International Airport and the Red Fort.
"The force has already taken over the security of the former. CISF has been earmarked for security of the Red Fort," he said.
Gujarat: He told Raj Kumar Dhoot that underworld elements were suspected to be involved in some of the incidents in the recent past in Gujarat primarily to disrupt communal harmony in the state.
Ulfa: To a separate question, swami said the government was aware about the existence of insurgent camps in Bhutan, which are being used as safe havens for training and launching of operations against Indian civilians and security forces.
Bhutan government has assured that it would not allow anybody to use its territory for activities prejudicial to the interests of India, he said.
Pakistani nationals: 266 Pakistani nationals were staying in Kerala without valid visas. The highest number of 95 were in Kerala's Malapuram district, Pathak said in reply to another question.
