New Delhi, Dec 10: Observing that it was his government`s policy to thoroughly probe all allegations of corruption, Prime Minsiter Atal Bihari Vajpayee today said CBI is inquiring into the Judeo cash-on-camera issue and it would be premature to state anything till the investigation is complete. Making a suo motu statement in the Lok Sabha, Vajpayee said CBI had sent notices to both former Union Minister of State for Environment and Forests Dilip Singh Judeo and his assistant private secretary Natwar Rateria requiring them to appear before the investigating agency.

"It has been the policy of my government that all allegations pertaining to corruption should be thoroughly inquired into. Accordingly, the CBI is inquiring into this whole matter and it would be premature to state anything till the inquiry is complete," he said.
The CBI, the Prime Minister said has "full functional autonomy and, under the recently enacted Central Vigilance Commission Act, the superintendence of the CBI in relation to offences under the prevention of corruption act has been vested by the government in the CVC".

"There should, therefore, be no fear or misgiving regarding the independence of this inquiry," he said.

He assured the house that the truth will soon be out and the law would take its own course.

The opposition, which had given notices of Adjournment Motion, had demanded an immediate discussion on the Judeo issue and Speaker Manohar Joshi had told the House that Vajpayee would make a statement. Bureau Report
