New Delhi, June 12: The Congress on Wednesday decided to have "wider consultations" on the presidential elections and said a decision would be taken in a day or two. The Congress Working Committee, which met here on Wednesday to chalk out its strategy in the wake of President K R Narayanan`s refusal to seek a second term, would again meet "in a day or two" to finalise its stand, party spokesman S Jaipal Reddy said.

"Today, we had a meeting of the CWC, but only those present in Delhi attended it. It was felt that the party should have wider consultations before taking any decision on such an important matter," Reddy said.

The meeting chaired by Congress President Sonia Gandhi lasting half-an-hour was attended by Pranab Mukherjee, R K Dhawan, L P Sahi, Mohsina Kidwai, Mahavir Prasad, Oscar Fernandes and Mukul Wasnik. Bureau Report
