The overall chilly weather condition in Bihar improved with bright sun shinning during the day even as the death toll in the recent spell of cold wave mounted to 45, official sources said. Four elderly people fell prey to the chilly weather in West Champaran and Bhagalpur (two each) in the past 24 hours taking the toll in the current spell of cold to 45. Muzaffarpur district has accounted for the maximum number of 13 deaths so far, followed by Nawada (eight), Vaishali (five), Nalanda (four), Darbhanga (three) and two each in Gaya, West Champaran, Bhagalpur and Saran. Met sources said the cold wave condition showed improvement with a clear sky today. Patna recorded minimum temperature of 9 degree celsius while the maximum temperature went up to 19.30 degree celsius.
Situation in Gaya, badly-affected by cold wave, also showed signs of improvement with mercury shooting up to 11 degree celsius which had fallen to 5 degree celsius, the lowest in the season, a couple of days ago. Bhagalpur recorded minimum temperature of 12 degree celsius.
