Three under-trial inmates managed to escape while a fourth was arrested while attempting to flee from the Shillong district jail, prison authorities said.
This is the second incident at the Shillong jail as at least six prisoners including some hardcore militants escaped in September.
Prison jail authorities said here that a sentry had raised the alarm when he spotted four inmates trying to scale the wall of the jail last evening. Three of them managed to escape while the fourth was injured in his attempt. He was arrested and admitted to the civil hospital in Shillong.

Inspector general of prisons B Kezo told reporters that following the September jailbreak, necessary action had been taken to control recurrence of such incidents but so far no discernible progress could be achieved, as the proposed action plan would take some time to yield results.
