Moscow, Apr 24: Russia today launched a proton-k rocket carrying a military satellite from the Baikonur Cosmodrome in Kazakhstan, Russia space officials said. The rocket blasted off at 0423 GMT (0953 IST) and the satellite was successfully placed into geo-stationary orbit 10 minutes later, reported a news agency quoting officials. It is the second time in less than a month that Russia had placed a military satellite into orbit, following a launch on April 2 at Plesetsk Cosmodrome in the north of the country. Bureau Report
