Patna, June 15: Over 100 shops were gutted and property worth Rs five lakh destroyed in a major fire that broke out in Kabari Bazar near Patna railway station, fire office sources said today.
District fire officer Sunil Gupta told that the fire
broke out in one of the shops around 1245 am and the flame
soon spread due to high wind, and gutted over 100 shops
selling garments, paints and kabari (waste material).
Seven fire tenders were pressed into service and the blaze was doused after intensive operation for over three hours, Gupta said.
He, however, said there was no report of any loss of lives. A few fire service officers received minor burn injuries, he added.
Gupta said that the fire was suspected to have been caused by leakage from a stove or gas cylinder in one of the shops. Bureau Report
