Kolkata, Aug 10: Trinamool Congress chief Mamata Banerjee today said that her struggle on the Eastern Railway bifurcation issue would continue till the Dhanbad and Katihar divisions were returned to the zone.
"We have been warned that we will be beaten up and arrested if we stage a dharna before the Prime Minister`s residence (against the bifurcation). Let them do whatever they can, but our struggle will continue till the Dhanbad and Katihar divisions are returned to ER," Banerjee told a TC rally here before leaving for Delhi. She said, "if our dharna at the Prime Minister`s residence on August 12 fails to elicit a response, we will decide the next course of action on August 13. We are scheduled to hold a `mahamichhil` (grand rally) on August 21."
Banerjee said that she had nothing against setting up of a new railway zone at Hajipur in Bihar, but asserted she would not accept the division of Eastern and South Eastern railways for setting up the new zone.
Without naming the railway minister Nitish Kumar, Banerjee reiterated her demand for his removal. "Either give us back (Dhanbad and Hajipur) or get out. That is our view."
