New Delhi, Mar 03: N K Singh, former joint director of CBI, would tomorrow appear before a special court here to depose as CBI witness in the St Kitts forgery case. Self-styled godman Chandraswamy and his aide K N Aggarwal alias 'mamaji' are facing trial in the case for allegedly forging certain documents to show that former prime minister VP Singh's son Ajeya Singh had opened a bank account in St Kitts island. "The notice has already been served on the witness and he (Singh) would appear before special judge R K Gauba to record his testimony tomorrow," CBI sources said. They said Singh's testimony would be very important as he had handled the case during his stint in the probe agency.

Former prime minister P V Narasimha Rao was also an accused in the case, but he was discharged by the trial court and the order was upheld by the Delhi High Court.

Earlier, film star turned politician Raj Babbar, who in deposed on September 25, had resiled from his statement in the case on the alleged role played by Chandraswamy and Mamaji.

The Samajwadi Party MP had said he did not remember telling CBI that the godman had asked the Indian ambassador in his presence in New York to arrange a meeting with V P Singh, who was in the US as the then finance minister and had refused to give appointment to the godman leaving him annoyed and angry.

Babbar had also denied having told CBI that Chandraswamy had called Singh "jai chand" and asked him if at all he had to enter politics and oppose Rajiv Gandhi why to join hands with V P Singh.
