New Delhi, Jan 23: Iraq on Wednesday expressed its satisfaction with the standard of cleaning facilities in Kandla Port and gave its conditional nod for import of six lakh tonne wheat from India with the first consignment scheduled to leave early next week.
"Technical inspection has revealed the wheat is upto the mark, having been cleaned at facilities in Kandla and the first consignment of 22,000 tonne belonging to Priyanka Overseas will leave the port on Monday," Director General Chairman of the Grain Board of Iraq, Yousif M Abdul-Rahman said.
Rahman who is leading a technical delegation on a visit to India said Iraq is satsified with the preliminary tests undertaken in Kandla, but the final clearance will only be given after further tests at the port of destination. Bureau Report
