Jammu, June 01: The Jammu and Kashmir High Court has prohibited advocates from taking part in strikes and warned that anyone violating the order may be debarred from fighting cases for upto five years. A notification, issued after a full court meeting here yesterday under the chairmanship of acting Chief Justice V K Jhanji, said advocates have been prohibited from giving a call for strikes, individually, jointly or through any association. It also said that advocates have been prohibited from abstaining from court or boycotting judicial proceedings. The notification said any advocate violating these provisions may be debarred from appearing, pleading and conducting cases in the high court or subordinate courts for one to five years. The meeting also decided to constitute a disciplinary committee, headed by the chief justice and comprising one or more judges of the high court, to inquire into complaints of advocates breaking any court rule.
