Jaipur, July 03: Turning back to its original agenda on construction of Ram Temple in Ayodhya, the Rajasthan unit of Vishwa Hindu Parishad today said that it would not stress on its trident distribution programmes in the state for now.
State chief of VHP Jagannath Gupta said that VHP was changing its programmes in view of the emerging scenario at the national level and discussions for solving the Ayodhya tangle.
Gupta said that VHP was not issuing any direction now for holding 'trishul deeksha’. "Whatever programmes have been conducted in the past are enough," he said.
VHP had come into direct confrontation with the state government as it had banned the distribution of tridents at such programmes. The issue even led to the arrest of VHP international general secretary Praveen Togadia in Ajmer two months back.
