Bangalore, Feb 15: Infiltration from Pakistan into India was witnessing 'ups and downs' in recent days, Defence Minister George Fernandes said today. "There has been ups and downs so far as infiltration is concerned," Fernandes told reporters here when asked if infiltration from across the border had come down. "There are days when there is infiltration and some get shot. There are days when there is no infiltration and there are days when infiltration is at a low key", he said. Fernandes ruled out India designing and building its own Advanced Jet Trainers, saying it would require not less than 15 years to do so.

On acquisition of AJTs, Fernandes said there had been a whole lot of players who wanted to market their products. He said that the price negotiation committee on acquisition of AJTs has completed the work, and it's going to cabinet committee.
