Allahabad, June 23: Over a hundred Muslims and Dalits participated in a joint feast here today, in a symbolic gesture aimed at bringing together the two communities on socio-economic and political levels. The feast, in which some guests ate out of the same plates, was jointly organised by All India United Muslim Morcha and Confederation of All India SC and ST Organisations, headed by Udit Raj.

Later addressing the guests, Udit Raj urged the two communities to join hands for alleviation of their social condition.

"The Muslims and Dalits have been in identical situation for ages. The Dalits have been discriminated by upper caste Hindus while Muslims have suffered from 'hate-Muslim' campaign orchestrated by the Sangh Parivar," he said. Bureau Report
