New Delhi, June 29: Police remained clueless for the second day today on the mysterious disappearance of a pistol of the 1971 Bangladesh war from the high security National Museum here, even as they questioned more than 50 people, including two Navy personnel, in connection with the case. Police are probing the antecedents of Naval Petty Officers Akbar Ali and D R Saini, who were on duty in the first floor gallery when the pistol was found missing yesterday, police sources said. CISF personnel on duty at the gate were also being questioned, the sources said. A number of visitors, who were in the museum at the time of the theft, were also examined by the police along with scrutiny of the records of CCTV (close circuit television). Additional commissioner of police, crime, P Kamaraj while admitting that there were no clues as yet, said investigations were on. The weapon was earlier reported to be the one handed over by Pakistani Lieutenant General A K A Niazi when his troops surrendered to the Indian Army in the 1971 Bangladesh war. But the Indian Military Academy today said the revolver was safe in its museum in Dehradun. Bureau Report
