Washington, Jan 03: Indo-US bilateral relations witnessed an unprecedented level of cooperation in the fields of space, nuclear technology and commerce during the year 2002, Indian Ambassador to US, Lalit Mansingh, has said.
Addressing his annual press conference, Mansingh said on Thursday that the Indo-US bilateral meetings during the year did not focus on India-Pakistan or on the situation on the border.
He said it was an eventful year which witnessed high-level exchanges from both sides.
The unprecedented bilateral activity began with the US visits of Deputy Prime Minister L K Advani and Defence Minister George Fernandes and climaxed by the visit of Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee's National Security Advisor, Brajesh Mishra, at the end of the year, he said.
Among the Cabinet Ministers who visited Washington were Jaswant Singh and Yashwant Sinjha, Mansingh said, adding the tone of Indo-US ties was set by US President George W Bush and Vajpayee when the latter visited the US in September. Bureau Report
