Kolkata, Nov 21: Hundreds of trucks, stranded along the West Bengal-Assam border due to anti-Bihari violence in Assam, started moving today with improvement in the situation, even as the state of alert remained in force as a precautionary measure. State's IGP (law and order) Chayan Mukherjee said that the trucks, carrying goods mainly to Assam, resumed journey today.

He said that Superintendents of Police of both Jalpaiguri and Coochbehar districts had been asked to be on the alert along the districts' border with Kokrajhar and Dhubri in Assam to prevent any possible influx from that part of the state.

However, there was no report of any infiltration from Assam as yet, the IGP said, adding that the police administration of Jalpaiguri and Coochbehar were keeping constant touch with Assam authorities.

To a question, he said that no influx was reported from the Bihar border too, but the Malda and north Dinajpur districts were asked to keep a vigil on the West Bengal-Bihar border.
