WorldCom , the second-largest US long-distance telephone and data services company, filed the largest US bankruptcy on Sunday after it buckled under a $3.85 billion accounting scandal and a mountain of junk-rated debt.

VSNL's shares ended down 4.4 per cent at Rs 141.65, partly on concerns about WorldCom's dues.
The New York Stock Exchange-listed VSNL, which was recently privatised and is now owned by India's second-largest business group, the Tatas, posted a net profit of a little more than Rs 1400 crore ($287 million) for the year ended March 2002.
