New Delhi, Aug 08: Mahesh Bhupathi and Leander Paes recorded contrasting victories to move into the quaterfinals of the men's doubles event at the Canada Masters being played in Montreal.
The top seeded pair of Bhupathi and Max Mirnyi of Belarus defeated Frantisek Cermak and Leos Freidl of Czech Republic 7-6 (7/5) 6-4 while fifth seed Paes and David Rikl moved to the next round after Frank Dancevic and Simon Larose of Canada forfeited the match when they were trailing 1-4 in the first set yesterday, according to information reaching here.
Bhupathi and Mirnyi now play 8th seed Wayne Arthurs and Paul Hanley of Australia who defeated Tomas Cibulec and Pavel Vizner of Czech Republic 6-3 7-5 while Paes and Rikl will take on 2nd seeded American pair of Bob and Mike Bryan to reach the last four.
Bhupathi and Paes are in the separate half of the draw and can face each other only in the final.
