Chennai, June 15: DMK today said it would consider coming out of the National Democratic Alliance, if the Centre deviated from the NDA agenda.
Chennai, June 15: DMK today said it would consider coming out of the National Democratic Alliance, if the Centre deviated from the NDA agenda.
Talking to reporters here, DMK president M Karunanidhi,
however, expressed hope that the Vajpayee government would not
deviate from the NDA agenda.
"If DMK felt that the agenda was being deviated, the general council of the party might deliberate the issue and take a decision," he said.
On Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Jayalalalithaa's remarks that Pope Paul John II has no business to comment on the religious conversion bill, he said it was highly condemnable that she had sought to comment on Pope.
Pope had every right to comment on any law passed by any country, he said.
"The cat is out of the bag" was his comments on the appointment sought by T Ramaiah, brother of the slain DMK leader T Kiruttinan with the Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Jayalalithaa.
"I have been saying that the AIADMK government was aiming at two mangoes from a single stone throw. While it wanted to use the Kiruttinan murder for weakening the DMK, it also used the murder to arrest M K Azagiri," his elder son, Karunanidhi said.
"When I am unable to recover from the loss of Kiruttinan I have to take steps to guard the party from the AIADMK onslaught," he said.
