Pakistan`s former attorney general dies
Quetta, June 27: A former Pakistan attorney general and senior leader in ousted prime minister Benazir Bhutto`s party, Yahya Bakhtiar, died today. He was 81.
Quetta, June 27: A former Pakistan attorney general and senior leader in ousted prime minister Benazir Bhutto's party, Yahya Bakhtiar, died today. He was 81.
Bakhtiar died of a heart attack in the southwestern city of Quetta, where he was born in 1922, family members said.
He is survived by his wife, two daughters and two sons.
Bakhtiar, a lawyer, defended former prime minister Zulfikar Ali Bhutto, who was hanged in 1979 by military dictator Gen Zia-ul Haq.
Bakhtiar served as attorney general in the younger Bhutto's governments in 1988 and 1990.
