Kota (Rajasthan), Nov 26: Making a frontal attack on Congress president Sonia Gandhi, Union Agriculture Minister Rajnath Singh today asked her to explain her 'role' in Bofors case and her relationship with Ottavio Quattrochi, an accused in the Rs 64 crore scam. "She is yet to explain her role in Bofors kickback case and she has yet not clarified her relationship with Quattrochhi who is wanted by investigating agencies for questioning," Singh told a news conference here.
Taking a dig at the Congress president for raising Dilip Singh Judeo issue, he said Judeo resigned from the Union Cabinet the day the 'baseless' charge of bribery was levelled against him, but Gandhi had been maintaining silence over conduct of Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Ajit Jogi, who belongs to her party and is being probed by CBI in a forgery case.
Singh alleged that it was Jogi's 'conspiracy' to implicate Judeo on false charges.
Rejecting the charge that CBI was being used by NDA government to serve its political aims, he asserted that the premier investigating agency was 'working independently, remaining above board and functioning in the manner it should.'
Bereft of any issue, congress was indulging in 'character assassination' of BJP leaders and issuing 'moral sermons' to try to garner people's support in the assembly polls, but its efforts would not succeed, Singh said.
He claimed there was a 'distinct wave' in favour of BJP in all the states going to the polls on December one. Bureau Report
