Sambalpur, Oct 06: Prominent BJP MLA Balgopal Mishra has launched a nine-day rath yatra to "make the people of western Orissa conscious about the need for creation of a separate Koshal state." The yatra, which was flagged-off from the Samaleswri temple here yesterday, would travel through ten districts and Athamallick sub-division of Angul district in the state. Mishra would tour Sundargarh, Sambalpur, Bargarh, Jharsuguda, Deogarh, Nuapada, Kalahandi, Sonepur and Boudh before culminating at Balangir. He would address meetings at 57 places during the yatra, organisers of the programme said. Kalyan Purohit, one of the organisers said plans have been chalked out for the success of the yatra which, he claimed, will be a "stepping stone to achieve the ultimate goal of a separate Koshal state."
Hundreds of motor cyclists followed the rath.
Among others, former MLA Brundaman Majhi, zilla parishad member Prem Ram Dubey, president of Koshal Sammelan and Bhagabat Prasad Nanda, prominent social worker, accompanied Mishra during the journey.
