Karachi, June 27: Pakistan will send its second
string team to compete in West Indies' domestic cricket event
in 2005, officials said yesterday.
"The West Indies Cricket Board invited our 'A' team to
compete in their first class tournament which we have agreed
and hope it will be a great learning experience for our
youngsters", Pakistan Cricket Board chief executive Ramiz Raja said.
"Considering the West Indies will host the 2007 world cup it will help our players to gain knowledge about conditions in the Caribbean".
England, South Africa and Bangladesh have also participated in West Indies' domestic events in the past.
Raja, a former Pakistan captain and opener, said PCB had also planned reciprocal tours at the junior level as part of a development drive.
"We have been stressing on development of the game as this is the lifeline of a system", he said.
