Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot has asked Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee to act firmly against cross-border terrorism and stop issuing piecemeal statements that leave people in confusion. The statements against terrorism by the Prime Minister were guided by political pragmatism in view of the upcoming Assembly Elections in Uttar Pradesh, Gehlot alleged while talking to reporters Sunday night.
Though the intelligence agencies were doing their job, the NDA government lacks political will to act on their part, Gehlot said, adding that during his visit to border areas he found the morale of the army and the people were very high and there had been a large public support in favour of crushing terrorism at any cost.
Meanwhile, police vigil had been stepped up in all parts of the state after the terrorist attack on parliament and vital installations were being well guarded, Gehlot said.
