New Delhi, Aug 03: UK sourced computer software worth Rs 6,036 crore from India during 2002-03, accounting for 59 per cent of India's total software export of Rs 10,090 crore to European countries, according to a study by ESC. Of the total software export of $2,085 million to the EU countries, UK accounted for 59 per cent in rupee terms, the study said.
The second largest market in EU for Indian software is Germany, importing Rs 1,449 crore worth of services, i.e. 14 per cent of Indian exports to the EU.

Belgium is at the third spot, buying Indian software worth Rs 894 crore followed by Netherlands at Rs 625 crore.
Other importers of Indian software in the EU were France (Rs 256 crore), Sweden (Rs 228 crore), Denmark (Rs 159 crore), Finland (Rs 159 crore), Ireland (Rs 130 crore), Spain (Rs 83 crore) and Italy (Rs 75 crore).
In electronics hardware, Netherlands was the top importer in 2002-03 among the EU countries. At 475 crore, Netherlands accounted for 32 per cent of India's total electronics hardware exports to the EU of Rs 1468 crore.
The second largest importer was Germany at Rs 350 crore which is 23 per cent of total exports.
UK occupies the third position at Rs 306 crore, accounting for 20 per cent. France imported hardware worth Rs 71 crore, Italy (Rs 69 crore) and Ireland (Rs 43 crore).
"EU has the potential to emerge as a promising market for India thereby reducing dependence on the US market to some extent", DK Sareen, ED, ESC said. Bureau Report Bureau Report
