New Delhi, Aug 30: Senior RSS leaders called on Deputy Prime Minister L K Advani here today and are believed to have discussed among other issues the situation in Jammu and Kashmir. During the 25-minute meeting at Advani's residence, RSS joint general secretary in charge of BJP affairs, Madan Das Devi, and senior Sangh leader from the state Indresh, are understood to have apprised him about the organisation's views on the situation in the state, Sangh sources told news agencies.

Local issues, including the security of Hindus, in the border areas of the state were also discussed, they said.
RSS has been alleging an attempt at "ethnic cleansing" in the state's border areas with the connivance of some local officials.

The organisations has also been supporting a movement for separate statehood to Jammu and union territory status to Ladakh and had even backed a political front, considerably affecting BJP's performance in the state assembly polls.
Today's meeting also comes in the wake of the Arachaeological Survey of India submitting its report on the Ayodhya excavations to the Lucknow bench of the Allahabad High Court.
