New Delhi, Sept 11: Government is reviewing the security of Hurriyat Conference chairman Maulana Abbas Ansari in the wake of threats from militant outfits including Jamiat-ul-Mujahideen to eliminate him for his "dovish" attitude towards solving of Kashmir issue. State government sources said that the security of Ansari was being reviewed as there were enough intelligence inputs suggesting that Pakistan-based militant outfits were working on strategies to kill Ansari the way Abdul Gani Lone was killed last year for favouring a dialogue.

Meanwhile, Hurriyat leaders supporting Ansari were also apprehending such a danger to their chairman as they claim that the amalgam was always rife with fissiparous tendencies right since its inception, which reached its peak on Sunday and led to a vertical split in the conglomerate. The blame squarely falls on Geelani, who has been advocating the cause of Pakistan and militants and was not in favour of any bilateral dialogue with the Centre as advocated by assassinated Abdul Gani Lone and now Abbas Ansari, they say.

The voice of Hurriyat leaders who state that violence had no role in solving the Kashmir issue was fading as Geelani had advised all of the breakaway constituents not to speak a word against the terrorist outfits.
