Washington, June 21: The US has dismissed as "fabrication" reports in the Pakistani press that Washington would agree to provide F-16s to Islamabad during President Pervez Musharraf's visit.
Asked to comment on reports in the Pakistani press that
according to "certain administrators from Pakistan, the US
would be ready to deliver F-16 fighters" to Islamabad, State
Department deputy spokesman Phil Reeker yesterday said "there
were stories, press reports of F-16 sales that I had checked
out a couple of days ago that suggested that a US official had
provided information regarding F-16s.
"That story is a fabrication, that is what I was told. So I don't have anything further on that," he said.
