Kanpur, July 14: A designated Pota court here today rejected the application of independent UP MLA Raghuraj Pratap Singh alias Raja Bhaiya, his father Udai Pratap Singh and an MLC seeking transfer of a Pota case against them to a review committee. In his order, judge Shailendra Saxena said there was no provisions in the Pota act for transfer of the case by court to a review committee.
The three Pota detenues could themselves approach the review committee, he said. The judge fixed July 19 for arguments on framing charges against Raja Bhaiya, his father and MLC Akshay Pratap Singh in the Pota case.
Referring to an Allahabad High Court order for declaring the names of witnesses in the case, the judge said copies of evidences of the witnesses had already been given to the defence. Raja Bhaiya is currently lodged in Kanpur District Jail, his father in Pratapgarh District Jail and the MLC in Mirzapur Prison. Bureau Report
