Trinamool Congress on Monday night suspended dissident party leader Ajit Panja, pending enquiry, for his `anti-party activities`.
Trinamool Congress on Monday night suspended dissident party leader Ajit Panja, pending enquiry, for his 'anti-party activities'.
The national working committee of the party, which met and constituted a five-member committee to investigate into the anti-party activities of Panja, TC spokesman Sudip Bandopadhyay said.
The five members of the committee were city mayor Subrata Mukherjee, chairman of TC policy-making body Pankaj Banerjee, state president Subrata Bakshi, Akbar Ali Khondakar, MP and senior leader Sardar Amjad Ali, he told reporters after the crucial meeting.
The working committee meeting was presided over by Ranjit Panja, MP and the brother of the dissident leader. TC chief Mamata Banerjee was also present in the meeting besides other MPs except Nitish Sengupta who could not attend due to his wife's illness, Bandopadhyay said.
Ajit Panja was not invited to the meeting.
