Bangalore, Feb 05: The Park Hotel near Trinity Circle was, and is, Bangalore's first "boutique hotel", and The Park group has now launched a brand new corporate identity. While the corporate logo in silver and deep blue lends a serious business feel to the group image, giving it a modern and elegant look, The Park hotels have always been distinctive. The group came to Bangalore two years ago, taking over a property that had changed several hands by then and seen better days.
The facelift the property went through was amazing, and those of us who visited shortly after it reopened as The Park were struck by how different it looked and felt from the usual business and tourist hotel. The Park lays emphasis on contemporary design in its private and public spaces. Style and luxury enhances everything, be it paintings, furniture, accessories, or dining and entertainment concepts.
The hotel's lobby is a `Silk Box' enveloped in soothing aqua blue raw-silk curtains. Contemporary leather furniture and accent pieces from Pierre Paulin and Thoent in luxurious textures enhance the richness of the space. None of the usual trappings of a hotel lobby and reception area are visible. You feel as though you're entering a private club.

The large glass panes look out into a series of gazebos, which lead up to the refreshing blue waters of a swimming pool. The unique temperature-controlled swimming pool is ideal for the serious swimmer and for those who just want to lounge around.
Back in the lobby, an angled table peeps through the silk curtains and draws you into a dining area. Monsoon is the name of the 24-hour restaurant with cuisine from all the regions the monsoon, the all-encompassing season that influences the landscapes of India, touches.

The "sharing table" that draws you to the restaurant is a melting pot where strangers can meet and mingle. The menu is a select offering from coastal cuisine from all over South India and South-East Asia. Thai and Vietnamese food mingles with Goan and Kerala curries — not on the plate of course. The selection of food emphasises authentic cuisine, subtle flavours, and healthy and quality ingredients.
Perhaps the most popular part of The Park in Bangalore is the `i- Bar'. It is a lounge bar with beanbag type seating and a multitude of screens offering the best of TV channels. The bar itself encapsulates the energy and dynamism of the wireless era.
The masculine dark timber floor complements the charcoal black upholstery, accented by warm lime green sofas in the niches. Imported ingredient, seafood from the coast, delicate pastas, and a wide range of vegetarian items bring in the genuine flavours of Italy.
