New Delhi, Aug 13: A demand for CBI probe into the helicopter crash near Mumbai High on Monday in which 22 people, most of them ONGC employees, were killed was made by Shiv Sena leader Chandrakant Khaire in the Lok Sabha today.
Raising the issue during zero hour, Khaire wanted action against chairman and managing director of ONGC, Subir Raha alleging the government undertaking had failed to take adequate safety measures for its employees.
Khaire raised the matter during the din over the issue of denial of CVC report on Kargil arms purchase to the Public Account Committee shortly after Petroleum and Natural Gas Minister Ram Naik laid the statement on the tragedy in the House.
Naik, in the statement, said Raha has been asked to draw up an emergency plan within a fortnight to further strengthen safety measures for air transportation following the helicopter crash.
He said ONGC employees have been asked not to disrupt oil and gas production following the incident.

"CMD, ONGC has been asked to draw up an emergency plan to further strengthen safety measures for air transportation in the offshore so as to make them fully comparable with the best global standards in consultation with Director General of air safety, within a fortnight," he said.
