Bhopal, Oct 22: Election Commission (EC) has asked
the Madhya Pradesh government to transfer nearly half-a-dozen
senior district officials for their alleged involvement in
political activities in the run up to the assembly polls while
certain others have been kept under observation.
Stating this at a press conference here today, a
two-member EC team which reviewed poll preparations in the
state, said instructions have also been given for revision of
electoral rolls in Mangawan assembly constituency in Rewa
district and to ensure free, fair and transparent election.
"Instructions have been issued for transfer of some district officers", Election Commission Member T R Krishnamurty said without specifying the exact number of these officers and the districts where they are posted.
He said involvement of certain other officers in political activities has also come to the notice of the Commision and "we are observing. If our suspicion turns out to be correct we will not hesitate to take action".
Both Krishnamurty and his colleague B B Tandon, who held talks with political parties and officials, said the report on alleged missing of holograms meant for use in voters identity cards in Rewa is being examined for necessary action.
Though there was general grievance about violation of code of conduct during interaction with political parties, no specific complain was made, they said, adding alleged violation of code in Balaghat involving State Forest Minister is being looked into.
It was made clear that expenses by relatives and friends would be included in candidates' expenses under amended law while non-submission of affidavits on criminal records and assets would lead to rejection of nomination, they said.
