New Delhi, Nov 17: Signaling that the Dilip Singh
Judeo graft issue would figure prominently in its election
campaign, Congress today demanded immediate arrest of the
Union minister, who was caught on camera accepting bribe and
his prosecution.
"We demand that a case be registered immediately against
the Union minister under the Prevention of Corruption Act and
he should be arrested like any other ordinary man," AICC
General Secretary Ambika Soni told reporters before courting
arrest while trying to lead a protest demonstration to the
Prime Minister's residence.
Hundreds of congress workers from Delhi and neighbouring
states including senior leaders Ahmed Patel, Oscar Fernandes,
Sajjan Kumar and Sunil Shashtri, took part in the protest
the party headquarters.
Attacking Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee for giving a clean chit to the Union Minister, Soni alleged that the central government was "full of corrupt people". She also asked the Centre to ensure the evidence related to the case, including the tapes, was secure. "We have a bitter experience in the Tehelka episode and it should not be repeated," Soni said.
