Bhopal, Nov 22: Accusing the BJP-led Central government of adopting step-motherly approach towards Madhya Pradesh and indulging in corruption, Congress president Sonia Gandhi today held it responsible for power crisis in the state. Addressing election rallies in Khurai, Itarsi and Badkui in the state, she alleged that BJP has failed to wipe out corruption, terror and hunger as promised by it and all these problems have assumed alarming proportions.
Gandhi, in her speech at Khurai, said power problem in Madhya Pradesh cropped up after Chhattisgarh was carved out of the state and claimed that the Vajpayee government did not provide any cooperation and assistance to enable the state create new power generation capacities.
She accused the NDA government of discriminating against Congress ruled states and said the MP government has done commendable work for upliftment of the poor despite "Centre's non-cooperation".
Charging the BJP and Central government with beating all records in corruption and bribery, Gandhi said "nobody can challenge them (BJP) in corrupt practices."
She claimed that BJP was adopting different standards for poor and the affluent and said fresh corruption charges against its leaders are an "eye opener" for the people and they should make proper judgement while voting. Bureau Report
