Jind, May 18: Four activists of Bharatiya Kisan Union (BKU) have ended their 62-day-old indefinite fast demanding release of Ghasi Ram Nain, state BKU president, at the request of a senior state Congress leader. Haryana Congress chief Bhupinder Singh Hooda asked the BKU activists to call off their protest as they had achieved their "aim of sending a message across to the people that the Haryana government has adopted repressive measures against the BKU leaders".

He alleged that Chautala government has not implemented the agreement reached between the office bearers of BKU and the representatives of the government at Jind last year.

Mange Ram along with Nafe Singh, Sehdev and Bansi Singh were on an indefinite fast from March 17 to press for the release of Nain from jail, who was arrested about six months ago in connection with the agitation of farmers in Ambala district, and withdrawal of cases registered against him.
