Baroda, June 24: Lashing out at Pakistan for indulging in cross-border terrorism in Jammu and Kashmir, Union law minister Arun Jaitley has said, "terrorism is not a freedom struggle and terrorists are not freedom fighters.” "Pakistan has been continuing terrorism for more than a decade after its failure to win wars in 1948, 1965 and 1971," he said here last night addressing BJP workers at the "chetna yatra" organised to mark death anniversary of the founder of Bhartiya Jansangh, Shyama Prasad Mukerjee. He said that there was a vast difference in ground reality and January 12 speech of Pakistan President Pervez Musharraf who had promised to end cross-border terrorism and dismantle terrorist camps in Pakistan and Pak-occupied Kashmir. "The elected assembly of Jammu and Kashmir had approved the state's merger with the Union Territory of India and instrument of accession was signed by the then maharaja and Sadar Risayat Harisinh, followed by other erstwhile princely states which merged with the union territory," Jaitley said. "Kargil has proved costly to Pakistan as it got exposed and the world was convinced that Pakistan is exporting terror to India. Not only that, the democratically elected government was replaced by an army general," he added.
He called upon political parties to join hands with the ruling party to "wage a war against terrorism." Bureau Report
