Ranchi, Dec 24: The opposition in the Jharkhand assembly today charged the Babulal Marandi government with creating confusion over the local policy, better known as domicile policy, and forced the Speaker to adjourn the House for a brief period. Ignoring Speaker Inder Singh Namdhari's repeated request for silence, the opposition members raised slogans against the government for its controversial policy, leading to a 10-minute adjournment of the House.
Conceding to the demand made by the opposition leader Stephen Marandi of the JMM to announce a date for the all-party meeting on the issue in the House, the Chief Minister said that the meeting would take place on December 26.
Marandi had earlier announced the holding of an all-party meeting after the Jharkhand High Court recently asked the state government to define its domicile policy.
Members of the Rashtriya Janata Dal, led by its legislature party leader, Girinath Singh, rushed to the well and squatted there protesting against reduction in the percentage of jobs reserved for scheduled caste and demanding development programmes for them. Bureau Report
