1387 persons rehabilitated in Marad
Kochi, Nov 05: The state government today submitted before the Kerala High Court that 1387 persons from Marad who had fled following the May 02 violence, had been rehabilitated.
Kochi, Nov 05: The state government today submitted before the Kerala High Court that 1387 persons from Marad who had fled following the May 02 violence, had been rehabilitated.
The submission was made in an affidavit filed by the government. A consensus had been reached for smooth rehabilitation pursuant to the discussions between representatives of various political parties on Oct 04 and 05, it was stated.
Essential commodities had also been supplied to the rehabilitated persons.
The affidavit was filed following a writ petition by Mariam Beevi and Bicheevi seeking police protection for their rehabilitation.
At the request of the petitioners, the case was adjourned to enable filing of reply affidavit.
In the May 02 violence nine persons were killed and several families fled the area subsequently. Bureau Report
