New Delhi, July 07: Newly appointed President of National Conference Omar Abdullah on Sunday asked the RSS and the VHP to stop toeing Pakistani line by favouring division of Jammu and Kashmir and said such a stand would have international repurcussions. "We have to be very cautious while dealing with Jammu and Kashmir. Such statements implied that the RSS and the VHP were actually following the two-nation theory of Mohammed Ali Jinnah," Omar said.

Omar, who is the Minister of State for External Affairs, said his party was not against healty position. "Opposition on genuine matters always acts as a catalyst in speedy development, but opposition for the sake of opposition has always been disastrous," the union minister said.
He said such statements about the division of the state should be viewed as a conspiracy against the sovereignty of the country.

Omar said that his party had been struggling for the last six years to bring the state to normalcy and insead of extending a helping hand, such statements did not augur well for the state.
Talking on autonomy, Omar said, "My party is firm on the idea of more powers to the state. We are not rigid to a particluar position like pre-1953 but would prefer a healthy discussion on the issue with the Centre that could eventuaily lead to a solution." Bureau Report
