London, June 09: Cherie Blair, British Prime Minister Tony Blair's wife, is making an extraordinary last minute pitch to head London's bid to host the 2012 Olympic Games.
She is using a multi-millionaire lawyer and old family friend to promote her campaign to win the 200,000 pounds per annum part-time job.
It would involve her travelling all over the world to secure international backing for London's bid.
Her late bid has already upset officials at the British Olympic Association who had hoped to line up a senior business figure to act as the public face of the London plan, 'The Mail On Sunday' reported.
They say Cherie's involvement could mire the bid in a row over nepotism. But her barrister Michael Beloff said Cherie Blair would make an ideal candidate because of her high profile and "powers of persuasion".
