30 killed, 100 injured as storm hits Bangladesh
Dhaka, May 05: At least 30 people, including nine children, were killed and 100 others injured as overnight tropical storms razed to ground at least two villages in eastern Brahmanbaria district in Bangladesh, reports said today.

The violent storm lashed Nayabadik and Mereshani village
near the border with India levelling about 100 houses, the
reports quoted officials as saying adding the storm was
followed by heavy showers which triggered landslides.
A number of mud houses were washed away by the landlsides.
However, rescue efforts began only this morning, official sources said adding the injured have been hospitalised.
Residents of the villages, which have been levelled to the ground, are helping search for survivors.
In a separate incident, six persons were killed when lightning struck Sylhet and Mymenisngh districts, official BSS news agency reported.
